Max Holloway is stepping in to replace Tony Ferguson who injured his knee following a freak accident, as he tripped, tearing a ligament in his leg while fulfilling media obligations no less than 6 days before the fight was to take place. The fight between the two has been long awaited, as this will be the fourth fight between the pair that hasn’t make it to the cage for various reasons. The word ‘curse’ is being thrown around, and it’s not too difficult to see why. Regardless, the event will see some excellent fights including the women’s Strawweight title fight between Rose Namajunas and Joanna Jedrzejczyk. The event will kick off from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York at 6:30pm local time (11:30pm BST) with the preliminary fights, and the main card kicking off at 10:00pm local time (3:00am BST).

How to watch UFC 223

If you’re in the UK you can watch the event live on BT Sport 2, on the BT Sport website, and on the broadcaster’s app. However, if you’re in a region of the world where UFC content is unavailable to you then you’ll need to get yourself a VPN. A VPN (or virtual private network) has several functions for security, but it can also route your connection to the internet through another geographical location. This means that using a VPN with a server located in the UK, will make the wider internet think you’re connecting from the UK – where as you can really be connecting from anywhere in the world. Using this method, you can get around any region blocks that might be in place (you can also do this with Netflix, for example). What is a VPN?

How to use a VPN to watch UFC 223

Find yourself a VPN provider. You can have a look at our top VPN picks for 2018 here, or go to NordVPN which is our current favourite. You’ll have to download their trial, or sign up to pay to use the service each month (it’s less than the price of a Starbuck’s coffee). Once you’ve downloaded the VPN software and made an account, you can select a server location for your connection to route through. Once you’ve activated this, restart your browser, and the wider internet will now think you’re connecting from which ever server you have selected in your VPN settings. Check out our guide on how to use a VPN here. You will still have to pay the UFC or designated broadcaster for the right to access the UFC content however, but at least you’re now able to access the content if you couldn’t before.

If you’re looking for a good deal on the UFC Fight Pass, set up your VPN to route your connection through Indonesia. You’ll pay substantially less in dollars for the pass, but do remember that you’ll need to route through an Indonesian server every time you want to watch any UFC content. Do make sure to check the terms and conditions when you do this, as while this method isn’t illegal, you may have your subscription cancelled if you’re caught.
