Pre-Requisites
Ensure that your phone is at least 50% charged.
Unlock bootloader on your device.
Enable USB debugging mode from Settings.
Also enable OEM unlocking mode from Developer options.
Steps to install TWRP on Honor 8
Step 1: Install ADB and Fastboot. Step 2: Download TWRP.img. Step 3: Copy this twrp.img file to location C:\Program Files\Minimal ADB and Fastboot folder (where you’ve installed the ADB and fastboot). So you’ll have these files in the Minimal ADB and fastboot folder:
Step 4: Connect Honor 8 to PC using a standard USB cable. Step 5: Open C:\Program Files\Minimal ADB and Fastboot folder, hold the Shift button and right mouse click on a space. You’ll see a list of options from which select Open command window here option. This will launch the cmd window as shown below.
Step 6: Type the following command in cmd window and hit enter key: adb devices As soon as you press enter key, a message saying ‘List of devices attached’ will appear. This will confirm that your Honor 8 is successfully connected.
Note: If such a thing doesn’t happen, then re-install USB drivers (link given in pre-requisites). Step 7: We will boot Honor 8 into fastboot mode now. For doing so, type the following command and hit enter key: adb reboot bootloader
As soon as you hit the enter key, your Honor 8 will boot into fastboot mode as shown below:
Step 8: To confirm whether fastboot is functional or not, type the command: fastboot devices Some random numbers along with the ‘List of devices attached’ message will confirm that fastboot is functional.
Step 9: We’ll install TWRP recovery now. For that, type the following command and hit enter key: fastboot flash recovery twrp.img Within a few seconds, the latest official TWRP custom recovery will be installed on your Honor 8.
Step 10: Let’s boot Honor 8 into TWRP recovery mode now. So type the following command: adb reboot recovery As soon as you press the enter key, your Honor 8 will boot into the installed TWRP custom recovery.
Finally! This is how you can install TWRP recovery on the Honor 8 smartphone. Now we’ll proceed to the rooting process.
Steps to Root Honor 8
Step 1: Download the Magisk.zip file. Step 2: Copy this zip file on your phone storage. Note: Do not extract the zip file. Step 3: Now restart your Honor 8 into TWRP recovery mode. Step 4: As soon as you enter TWRP, click on the Install option from the main menu.
Step 5: This will show all the files and folders present on your mobile. Select the downloaded Magisk.zip file.
Step 6: Then, swipe right to begin the Rooting process.
Within a few minutes, the rooting process will complete. You’ll also see a successful message on the screen. Just click on the Reboot System option to restart your mobile.
